The Rev Tony Windross was welcomed into the Parish of St Leonard (which includes the churches of St Michael and All
Angels (the ‘tin tabernacle’) in Stade Street and Holy Cross, Palmarsh) at a Service of Licensing and Installation led by the
Bishop of Dover, the Right Rev Dr Stephen Venner, in St Leonard’s Church on 2 September 2008.
Tony Windross came to Hythe from Norfolk where he was the incumbent at St Peter’s, Sheringham for eight years after
previously being curate-in-charge of St Luke’s, East Grinstead, his first full-time parish ministry, during 1997-9. He and his
wife Pat have four sons, Peter, David, Andrew and Paul.
Rev Windross spent his early years in Margate (which makes him a fully-fledged Man of Kent) but left at the age of four
when his family moved to Eastbourne. After leaving school he studied economics and geography while at Corpus Christi
College, Cambridge, and also whilst there met and married Pat. After Cambridge, Tony went to Birmingham University on
the post-graduate certificate of education course and then taught for 24 years.
